Peg Ott Mcguckin
339 Pepper Road
Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006
215-947-8842
As a child I would
draw something on paper, then pass it on to my father. He
would
add his impressions and pass it back to me. This is how my
creativity was born.
I have been seriously painting for over 20 years.
Originally, I
pursued silk screen printing at the Cheltenham Art Center. Much
later, I sought a
more academic approach.
Abington Art Center
introduced me to watercolor painting. My techniques were
formed here. My
visual development reached for higher levels.
The Pennsylvania
Academy of Fine Arts focused me on oil painting. I especially
enjoyed the
landscape classes held in Bucks County. My most moving experiences
came when I copied
the Masters paintings in the Academy museum. How many can
say that John Singer
Sargent and Cecelia Beaux were their mentors?
Presently, I paint
portraits at the Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill.
This is a good match
for me.
Watercolor gives me
the freedom to focus on certain details and let the rest of the
subject wash off the
page. Oil painting lures me to reach beyond my abilities.
Portraits in both
mediums, hold an enchantment for me.
Painting landscapes
in Bucks and Montgomery Counties plus the beaches in New
Jersey has the added
bonus of sharing the day with friends.
Although I am
passionate about my works, I find entering exhibits, an
interruption. Thus I
do less than most of my artist friends. Recently, I did start a web
site. Please visit
me there. I am hoping you will enjoy my painting as much as I
enjoyed creating it.
My paintings have
been exhibited at Abington Art Center, Woodmere Art Museum,
Abington Hospital
Exhibit, Celebrate Art Exhibit in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
Member of the Bucks Mont Art League

Robert J. Obodzinsky, SR.
His recent
interest in art started with painting his first watercolor on July
29, 2009. He was surprised by his ability to paint. He couldn't
believe some of his paintings were even done by him! Watercolor
painting is a favorite of his though he painted a few acrylics. He
plans on
diving into oil paints soon. He is mostly self taught, learning from
books, online and videos. He states "It's nice to return to
something I used
to do in grammar school and still enjoy it so much."

About
the Artist
The main focus
of Dorothy's work has been the landscape, concentrating on subjects in
the tri-county area. She
is interested in interpreting the natural beauty of the
landscape, particularly our
parks, farms and nature centers. Through her art, she hopes to
increase awareness of the
importance of these lands to the ecology of our planet and to
our quality of life.
Recently Dorothy have
been exploring the still life genre, incorporating organic forms
in a traditional
motif. These still lifes also reflect her interest in the beauty
of the natural world.
Dorothy has studied
at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Woodmere Art Museum,
and the Abington Art
Center, and with the late Bucks County artist Beverly Garnett.
Her work appears
in private homes and offices in the area, including the Pennypack Environmental
Center in Philadelphia. She has been accepted into juried shows
including the Abington Art
Center, Oreland Art Center, the Plastic Club of Philadelphia,

Karen Terry
Her name is
Karen West Terry. She has lived in Hatboro, Pennsylvania most of her
life.
She has a
wonderful companion named Buddy. He is a chocolate Cocapoo.
Karen started
painting in 2002, after recovering from Breast Cancer. She attended
Abington Art
Center and had
the opportunity to study under Chris Zminewski, Gail Bracegirdle and Ed
Lteven. She has
participated in many workshops in the Montgomery and Bucks County area.
Her paintings
have been accepted in juried and non-juried shows. One of her favorite
shows was a
one women show
that was designed to benefit Susan Koman Breast Cancer Research. All the
proceeds
were donated to
that organization. Some of her paintings are done on crinkled watercolor
paper,
which gives a
three dimensional look to the work. She uses gouache with watercolor.
She also loves to paint with
paper that has
been covered with Gesso. This gives a deep translucent look to the
paintings.
Karen works on
commissions and can be reached at her email address:
Karenwterry01@msn.com.
She loves to
work with buildings, homes, water and many other venues.
She would love
to paint your pet.

Joyce Gusky
Joyce enjoys working with oil, pastel and watercolor.
Joy is revealed in her paintings.
At
an early age Joyce helped her Father at his textile mill. He did
Jacquard rug patterns and the completed rugs are now in many
prominent buildings. She enjoyed seeing the intricate, unlimited
possibilities that design and color offered.
Her father’s textile designer Mrs. Slaw was Joyce’s first art
teacher. She attended Saturday art classes at her home for several
years. Mrs. Slaw taught her basic drawing and watercolor.
As
the years progressed many art classes and teachers helped her to
evolve and develop a style. Another teacher was Frances Castor who
has been a long time neighbor and friend for over thirty years in
Huntingdon Valley, PA. Frances has been a wonderful inspiration and
mentor. From her she learned oil paintings and the use of pastel
drawing at the Fox Chase Studio and Alverthorpe Art Center.
Drawing has become
a source of relaxation, expression and many hours of enjoyment for
Joyce. Generally, she likes to draw or paint in the spring and
summer because the light is better and there is more opportunity to
get outside in nature. Her oil paintings usually depict nature and
her pastel art becomes portraits.
Another one of Joyce’s hobbies is the creation of patchwork quilts
which she usually works on in the winter. A quilt is a type of
bedding composed of several layers that is generally combined using
the quilting technique. Many are made with decorative designs, and
some are not used as bed covering at all, but are rather made to be
hung on a wall or otherwise displayed. This has been a long time
creative effort and certainly another art form. Quilting offers
thousands of patterns and color choices.
Joyce’s formal
training was at Philadelphia University from which she graduated
with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture/Interior Design -
Marketing. She studied architecture and many forms of textile
science while continuing to perfect her drawing skills. At
Montgomery Community College an Associate Degree in Graphic Design -
Marketing was earned. This was followed by another Associate Degree
in Multimedia obtained from The Art Institute of Philadelphia, PA.
Life is a learning experience, which she continues to enjoy and
explore. Her art expression continues to evolve. Lately she has
been using watercolor and combining that with colored pencil. It is
her hope that her creations will also bring the viewer pleasure and
enjoyment.

Mary Krist
Mary Krist loves to draw, which is something she has
been doing since she was a child. Some art training that she received
was in highschool and some art courses
after graduation. While drawing she puts her heart
into whatever the subject is, striving always to make it come alive with
feeling and tenderness. Later she decided to try painting.
She also finds this enjoyable because it is wonderful
to her to see what beautiful, vibrant colors add to a picture. When she
is creating a picture and it is all finished she always stands back and
looks at the
end result and thanks God for experience and the joy
of sharing it with others.

fortunate to have painted in Monet's garden, France with her art group:
A great experience! She also has been on location in Bermuda with Jean
Spicer's group.
She
prefers painting from still lifes, especially flowers. Sometimes from
her own photos or sketches, collected when traveling in Europe and the
United States.
Many of
her paintings have been donated to Abington Memorial Hospital Auctions,
Holy Redeemer Hospital, Drueding Center and Stone Harbor Women's Club
for silent auctions. She also has given numerous paintings to her
children and to relatives for special occasions. She has given away so
many paintings for friends, wedding presents, and other occasions, it is
hard to keep track over the years just because she enjoys to share her
gift.
Diana
loves painting, especially on location with instructions from her
favorite teachers. A week or two weeks on location is her favorite thing
to do. |

Gippy Henry
Gippy Henry comes from a long line of artists in her
family: great-grandfather, grandmother, father;
present generation: her daughter, and now her
grandson who has been studying filmmaking from
the age of thirteen and will be attending college
for just that goal. In the past, she initially
attended art school for advertising art, but was
drawn to the fine arts. She has painted many
portraits of people and pets, beginning at age 16 at
which time she sold her first portrait, as well as
very realistic landscapes and other subjects. She
has studied and used pastels, charcoal, pen and ink,
watercolor and acrylic at Cheltenham & Abington Art
Centers, as well as live studies done around the
Philadelphia area over the years.
However, Gippy has now changed the course of her
paintings and is introducing her "new" contemporary
abstract acrylic on canvas, as well as some
watercolor on paper. She states the following:
"These paintings have gotten me out of the box and
made me realize that when one puts one's ego aside
and allows the Lord to create, amazing emotional and
spiritual things happen which makes beautiful art.
We are just instruments in the process." Gippy wold
be happy to explain the process of her contemporary
paintings, and also continues to do realistic
watercolor.
Having moved to New Jersey six years ago, this is
her first show back here in Philadelphia. She has
shown her work in the past in Wyncote, Roslyn,
Hatboro, Germantown (Woodmere Museum), as well as
businesses in the Pennsylvania and now New Jersey
areas. Most of her sales presently come from word of
mouth and small town shows.

Jean Broden
Jean is an artist and art educator from
Philadelphia. She has spent most of her life creating art
and even as a small child knew that this was the path her life would
take. Jean attended Moore
College of Arts where she studied to be an illustrator. After a
number of years working in the busi-
ness world, Jean returned to school to get her Master's Degree in
Art Education. She currently
teaches Studio Art and Art History at Lansdale Catholic High School.
While her children were young, Jean got her "art fix" creating Folk
Art toys and decoratives
that she sold in area shops and at craft shows. Now that her
children are grown, Jean has
plunged back into the world of fine art, attending classes at Studio
Incamminati and spending
every spare moment at the easel.
"My pursuit in creating art is in finding the beauty in simplicity.
Nothing means more to me
than family and family life. Through my paintings, I hope to
recreate the warmth of my life
in the people, places and things that are special to me. I hope that
others can connect these
scenes of mine with their own lives.

"I started painting after I
retired in 2002. I raised 6 children who are all
very artistic and I often wondered if they got any
of it from their mother. I only had one art class
in high school and I remember liking it a lot. A
friend of mine from high school, whom I am still
very close to, had started painting and invited
(well, almost pushed me) into going to art class
with her. I was amazed when I discovered what I
could make happen. I felt like a kid in first grade
who brought home a picture to put on the refrig. My
daughter, Marni, set me up with all the good colors
of paints as a birthday gift and I was on my way! I
started getting books, going on line, taking classes
and craved more and more knowledge about art -
especially watercolor. I also started (with the
same friend's push) to paint on porcelain, another
medium that I just love! I take classes at the
local high school every semester and take others
with me so they too can discover the joy of
painting. I have had many art shows locally in
Hatboro, PA (a littlel north of Philly) and with my
daughter, Marni Maree in D.C. I am a member of the
Doylestown Art League, and the Bucks-Mont Art
League.
I am so happy when others enjoy my art.
I am having the time of my life. "
Clare Annice
resides in Hatboro, PA.
Look what she was hiding for all of those years!

Alex McGivern
Alex's interest in art began prior to grade school. He sketched on
brown paper bags and any piece of paper available.
In his mid teens he took a correspondence course in art. He painted
his first oil painting in his early twenties. Over the years
his interest in art motivated him to take occasional informal art
classes. Most of his recent works are done with pastels as the
medium. He stated "Of course, we are always learning!"

Richard Goldberg
Dick Goldberg, a retired vitreoretinal surgeon, is a
self taught artist. His most recognized images capture quiet, spiritual,
uplifting moments.
Color, light, atmosphere, intrigue and minimalism
evoke an emotional response, drawing the viewer into the painting.
"Feeling" is seminal to the artist's work which at
times contains surreal elements. Pared composition adds to feelings of
peace, calm, reflection and harmony.
Dick relates "he feels a privileged observer and that
art provides a unique opportunity for artist and viewer to open
themselves to each other and even something larger than themselves."
His works are in public and private collections.
"One finds that he doesn't just put down an image with
paint, but he tries to make it grow out of the paint."
Victoria Donohoe, Review Philadelphia Inquirer 2009 |

Anthony Fuscellaro Photographer
Anthony Fuscellaro is a self-taught photo-realist. The
images are all done on 35 mm film and have not been enhanced. They are
one of a kind and are not duplicated.
All of the prints are matted and framed by a local
framer and the material is all made in the United States. The subjects
are from the East Coast of the United States. They evoke many emotions,
and the longer you view the pictures, the more
you are able to see. Anthony is a native Philadelphian. Through the
years changes have been made to the landscape of the region. Remnants of
the past are
shown in his pictures, the present is linked to both
the past and the soon to be past. Beauty is shown in its shape and
texture as though it would be lost had not the photographer brought it
to our attention. The pictures are real, and that in
itself is a fete today. Mr. Fuscellaro's works have been on display in a
number of galleries in Center City, Philadelphia and are presently
on display in Easton, Maryland and the Underground
Gallery, Laurel Hill, Philadelphia. Anthony recently won the "Best -
Black and White" at the Plein Air Photography Contest, in Easton,
Maryland. |

Joy L. Gilbert Original Jewelry
She began her path to become a jewelry artist in 2002.
During that time she was caring for her mother and working full time. It
would be at least midnight until her
mother settled in for the evening. She started making
jewelry ornaments, and then went on to bracelets, earrings, necklaces,
ect. After her mom passed in 2003 she continued her fascination
with beaded jewelry, gradually branching out to wire
work, crochet and knitting with semi-precious gemstone beads, swarovski
crystals, metals and beads. She took one class in pearl knotting
at a local bead store. This year she was a jewelry
instructor at Michaels Crafts. During the years she has taught friends
and her own sister on the art of jewelry making. |
