Maggie Leiby

Maggie Leiby was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After spending many years in the Atlanta, Georgia area, she and her husband, Bob, returned to Pennsylvania and settled in Doylestown Township. They have two grown daughters, Madeleine and Jennifer.

Maggie worked as a registered nurse until, in 1988, a serious illness and a life-altering dream changed the course of her life. Following the words spoken by God in her dream, she began private painting lessons. In 1991 she recognized the need to formalize her art training and enrolled at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, graduating, Magna cum Laude, in 1994 with a BA in Studio Art.

Maggie works in oils, watercolor, pastel, and egg tempera. As a believer in life-long learning, the artist has attended many workshops offered by acclaimed artists, such as Nelson Shanks, Paul DuSold, Dot Bunn, Lois Griffel, and Master Iconographer, Vladislav Andrejev to increase her knowledge and skills. She has studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and at Studio Incamminati.

The artist’s travels to Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, and The Netherlands inspire many of her paintings.

This award winning artist is a member of Oil Painters of America, The Philadelphia Sketch Club, The Rockport Art Association, Delaware Valley Plein Air Painters, River Rats Plein Air Painters, Doylestown Art League, The New Hope Art League, and Artsbridge. The artist teaches painting classes from her home studio. Commissions welcomed.

Leiby's work has been displayed in various venues throughout Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery Counties, as well as, in New England. Her paintings are in collections throughout the United States and Europe. Gallery representation is through The Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art in New Hope, Pa. and The Upstairs Gallery in Peddler’s Village, Lahaska, Pennsylvania.

Artist Statement

The beauty of the landscape has always stirred my soul. In my paintings I try to capture the Spiritual force emanating from the land. Like the Impressionists, I am fascinated with light and atmospheric conditions which I believe help to create a sense of mood and place.

I thank God for opening the wonderful world of art to me through a dream. I look upon my dream as a gift; acting upon that dream, and what I do with my art is my gift back to Him.

Dani (nee' Darlene) Palumbo Barnsby started making art at an early age. Her mother enrolled her in an art class at the Boston Children's Museum at the tender age of three.Throughout elementary and highschool she showed her talent, winning numerous contests. In college, Dani persued a technical path and prepared to teach mathematics. Two children and a twenty-five year career in computers later, Dani finally resumed her education in art. Taking classes at Manchester Community College in Connecticut and several workshops in both Connecticut and New Jersey, she cultivated her talent. She has worked in watercolor, pastel, gouache, pencil and acrylic. Her main focus currently is portraiture. She will be featuring a collection of pastel paintings of saints at the "Celebrate Art" show.

Dani lives in Cape May, NJ, with her husband Roger.

As a child I would draw something on paper, then pass it on to my father. He

would add his impressions and pass it back to me. This is how my creativity was born.
I have been seriously painting for over 20 years.

Originally, I pursued silk screen printing at the Cheltenham Art Center. Much
later, I sought a more academic approach.

Abington Art Center introduced me to watercolor painting. My techniques were
formed here. My visual development reached for higher levels.

The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts focused me on oil painting. I especially
enjoyed the landscape classes held in Bucks County. My most moving experiences
came when I copied the Masters paintings in the Academy museum. How many can

say that John Singer Sargent and Cecelia Beaux were their mentors?

Presently, I paint portraits at the Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill.
This is a good match for me.

Watercolor gives me the freedom to focus on certain details and let the rest of the
subject wash off the page. Oil painting lures me to reach beyond my abilities.
Portraits in both mediums, hold an enchantment for me.
Painting landscapes in Bucks and Montgomery Counties plus the beaches in New
Jersey has the added bonus of sharing the day with friends.

Although I am passionate about my works, I find entering exhibits, an
interruption. Thus I do less than most of my artist friends. Recently, I did start a web
site. Please visit me there. I am hoping you will enjoy my painting as much as I
                                                                                                         enjoyed creating it.

My paintings have been exhibited at Abington Art Center, Woodmere Art Museum,
Abington Hospital Exhibit, Celebrate Art Exhibit in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

                                                      Robert J. Obodzinsky, SR.

His recent interest in art started with painting his first watercolor on July 29, 2009. He was surprised by his ability to paint. He couldn't
believe some of his paintings were even done by him! Watercolor painting is a favorite of his though he painted a few acrylics. He plans on
diving into oil paints soon. He is mostly self taught, learning from books, online and videos. He states "It's nice to return to something I used
to do in grammar school and still enjoy it so much."

I have been painting since 1987 and have an associate degree in Fine Arts/Animation degree from Bucks County Community College back in 1995.

I usually worked in acrylics or pastels years ago along with computer graphics. However, after a 20-year hiatus taking care of family members, some

with severe illnesses plus working full time. I most recently returned to painting.   I tried watercolor and have found a medium I enjoy.

So far I have done a few and have been lucky to  have won a few ribbons.  I want to enjoy spending  more time painting..

Gippy Henry

Gippy Henry comes from a long line of artists in her family: great-grandfather, grandmother, father; present generation: her daughter, and now her grandson  who has been studying filmmaking from the age of thirteen and will be attending college for just that goal. In the past, she initially attended art school for advertising art, but was drawn to the fine arts. She has painted many portraits of people and pets, beginning at age 16 at which time she sold her first portrait, as well as very realistic landscapes and other subjects. She has studied and used pastels, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor and acrylic at Cheltenham & Abington Art Centers, as well as live studies done around the Philadelphia area over the years.

However, Gippy has now changed the course of her paintings and is introducing her "new" contemporary abstract acrylic on canvas, as well as some watercolor on paper. She states the following: "These paintings have gotten me out of the box and made me realize that when one puts one's ego aside and allows the Lord to create, amazing emotional and spiritual things happen which makes beautiful art. We are just instruments in the process."  Gippy wold be happy to explain the process of her contemporary paintings, and also continues to do realistic watercolor.

Having moved to New Jersey six years ago, this is her first show back here in Philadelphia. She has shown her work in the past in Wyncote, Roslyn, Hatboro, Germantown (Woodmere Museum), as well as businesses in the Pennsylvania and now New Jersey areas. Most of her sales presently come from word of mouth and small town shows.

Jean Broden

Jean is an artist and art educator from Philadelphia. She has spent most of her life creating art
and even as a small child knew that this was the path her life would take. Jean attended Moore
College of Arts where she studied to be an illustrator. After a number of years working in the busi-
ness world, Jean returned to school to get her Master's Degree in Art Education. She currently
teaches Studio Art and Art History at Lansdale Catholic High School.

While her children were young, Jean got her "art fix" creating Folk Art toys and decoratives
that she sold in area shops and at craft shows. Now that her children are grown, Jean has
plunged back into the world of fine art, attending classes at Studio Incamminati and spending
every spare moment at the easel.

"My pursuit in creating art is in finding the beauty in simplicity. Nothing means more to me
than family and family life. Through my paintings, I hope to recreate the warmth of my life
in the people, places and things that are special to me. I hope that others can connect these
scenes of mine with their own lives.

"I started painting after I retired in 2002.  I raised 6 children who are all very artistic and I often wondered if they got any of it from their mother.  I only had one art class in high school and I remember liking it a lot.  A friend of mine from high school, whom I am still very close to, had started painting and invited (well, almost pushed me) into going to art class with her.  I was amazed when I discovered what I could make happen.  I felt like a kid in first grade who brought home a picture to put on the refrig.  My daughter, Marni, set me up with all the good colors of paints as a birthday gift and I was on my way!  I started getting books, going on line, taking classes and craved more and more knowledge about art - especially watercolor.  I also started (with the same friend's push) to paint on porcelain, another medium that I just love!  I take classes at the local high school every semester and take others with me so they too can discover the joy of painting.  I have had many art shows locally in Hatboro, PA (a littlel north of Philly) and with my daughter, Marni Maree in D.C.  I am a member of the Doylestown Art League, and the Bucks-Mont Art League.
I am so happy when others enjoy my art.
I am having the time of my life. "
Clare Annice resides in Hatboro, PA.
Look what she was hiding for all of those years!

Michael Nathan

Michael Nathan has had a passion for photography as an art from the age of about 8 years.  He   made wood model airplanes, suspended them from the ceiling with a blue quilt behind them to give the appearance of clouds, and photographed them in black and white.  His interest in photography progressed from black and white film to color slides and prints, and now digital photography.

After retiring from consulting civil engineering, Michael now has the time to fully enjoy digital photography, and its rapidly changing technology.  With the opportunity now to travel with Judy, his wife of 51 years, and their children and grandchildren, Michael is more prolific than ever.  He estimates he takes approximately 15,000 photographs a year, selecting about 25 for framing.  He has always enjoyed photographing and printing landscapes, wildlife and flowers, and has, in the last 5 years, developed a strong interest in photographing birds in flight, especially hummingbirds.

Richard Goldberg

Dick Goldberg, a retired vitreoretinal surgeon, is a self taught artist. His most recognized images capture quiet, spiritual, uplifting moments.

Color, light, atmosphere, intrigue and minimalism evoke an emotional response, drawing the viewer into the painting.

"Feeling" is seminal to the artist's work which at times contains surreal elements. Pared composition adds to feelings of peace, calm, reflection and harmony.

Dick relates "he feels a privileged observer and that art provides a unique opportunity for artist and viewer to open themselves to each other and even something larger than themselves."

His works are in public and private collections.

"One finds that he doesn't just put down an image with paint, but he tries to make it grow out of the paint."

Victoria Donohoe, Review Philadelphia Inquirer 2009

Anthony Fuscellaro Photographer

Anthony Fuscellaro is a self-taught photo-realist. The images are all done on 35 mm film and have not been enhanced. They are one of a kind and are not duplicated.

All of the prints are matted and framed by a local framer and the material is all made in the United States. The subjects are from the East Coast of the United States. They evoke many emotions,

and the longer  you view the pictures, the more you are able to see. Anthony is a native Philadelphian. Through the years changes have been made to the landscape of the region. Remnants of the past are

shown in his pictures, the present is linked to both the past and the soon to be past. Beauty is shown in its shape and texture as though it would be lost had not the photographer brought it

to our attention. The pictures are real, and that in itself is a fete today. Mr. Fuscellaro's works have been on display in a number of galleries in Center City, Philadelphia and are presently

on display in Easton, Maryland and the Underground Gallery, Laurel Hill, Philadelphia. Anthony recently won the "Best - Black and White" at the Plein Air Photography Contest, in Easton, Maryland.

Clare Trappler Original Jewelry

After retiring from her long and varied career in the banking industry, Claire Trappler began making one of a kind
bead/stone necklaces for the past six years, originally starting as a hobby with finished products donated to organizations
serving abused/ battered and financially handicapped women, as well as residents of retirement/personal care facilities.
(What a boost of morale for a person to have something pretty to enhance their outfit as they go on job interviews or start a new job.)
Recently, Claire expanded her endeavors by selling selective items, using the proceeds to further her ministry of helping disadvantaged women.

Corley Guiling Original Jewelry

Joy L. Gilbert Original Jewelry

She began her path to become a jewelry artist in 2002. During that time she was caring for her mother and working full time. It would be at least midnight until her

mother settled in for the evening. She started making jewelry ornaments, and then went on to bracelets, earrings, necklaces, ect. After her mom passed in 2003 she continued her fascination

with beaded jewelry, gradually branching out to wire work, crochet and knitting with semi-precious gemstone beads, swarovski crystals, metals and beads. She took one class in pearl knotting

at a local bead store. This year she was a jewelry instructor at Michaels Crafts. During the years she has taught friends and her own sister on the art of jewelry making.

Alicia Gasparovic – Stained Glass

Actuary and hurricane/earthquake catastrophe modeler during the day, Alicia works on her stained and leaded glass projects in her spare time.
Her first venture into glass work was making custom kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors for her previous home in NJ.

Although the more popular copper foil technique allows finer detail and construction of three-dimensional objects, Alicia prefers the chunkier, more industrial
look of the traditional lead came method for stained glass.  She enjoys working with her hands and making use of the many available textures and colors.
Often seen raiding the scrap bins at the local glass store, Alicia usually designs her pieces with no specific color palate in mind.
The supply of glass on hand then dictates the colors of the piece.

Alicia did not admit that she had an artistic side until after finishing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Johns Hopkins University,
a twelve-year career as a physics and mathematics teacher, and changing jobs to become an actuary.  It was only then, with the encouragement
of her husband, his family, and her coworkers that she realized there was more to her than just numbers.
